Towards Real-Time Classification of HPC Workloads via Out-of-band Telemetry

This paper describes the first work done towards my PhD. In it, I show that out of band data avilable via Redfish may be sufficient to perform classification on HPC workloads – in real time. This has important applications in security – specifically around detecting malicious workloads and misuse of HPC systems.

I presented the paper at the HPCMASPA Workshop at IEEE Cluster 2022. The slides I used are avilable as odp, pptx, or pdf.

US Patent 10264333

Part of my work for Thaw America was proving that it was possible to extract Post Cut-Through Dialing Digits (PCTDD) from phone calls without extracting other dialing. In short, to tell a phone number from not-a-phone-number.

This patent outlines the method I created for to do that.

Extracting Dialed Telephone Numbers from Unstructured Audio

This paper outlines CCAD, a system for differentiating dialed telephone numbers from other dialed numbers (eg: credit ard numbers, PINs, passwords, bank account numbers). It is a writeup of the work I did for Thaw America.

FISCR 16-01: How the Secret Courts Secretly Gave Away Telecommunications Privacy (And How We Can Get it Back)

A talk on FISCR 16-01, surveillance, and the consequences of allowing law enforcement to go looking through phone calls on national security grounds. Given in my role as part of Thaw America.

Presented October 22, 2017 at Radical Networks.

Slides in ODP format. These slides likely have accessibility issues due to unlabeled images. The speaker’s notes contain the important components of the talk and important images are described in the video. All other images are stock/filler.
